Hemp Pachamama
Treat yourself or the goddess in your life to a very meaningful gift, the Root for Hemp exclusive Hemp Pachamama!
Our Founder learned about the legend of Pachamama while backpacking through Peru 12 years ago. Pachamama is commonly translated as Mother Earth or Mother Nature, but the more literal translation is “World Mother” in indigenous languages of Quechua and Aymara. Pachamama was revered by indigenous Incans as a fertility goddess who presides over planting and harvesting. Legend is that she is embodied by the mountains and can cause earthquakes. Mystically connected to Water, Earth, Sun, and Moon, she is known as an ever-present deity who uses her creative power to sustain life on earth.
Today, many indigenous peoples in South America base environmental concerns in these ancient beliefs, saying that problems arise when people take too much from nature because they are taking too much from Pachamama.
Our Founder brought a hand carved Pachamama home from Peru, and that figure inspired the creation of our most artful way to showcase the hemp plant . Our Hemp Pachamama holds a few real buds of hemp at heart-center, and in a nod to her mystical reverence and to help all her curves shine, gold flakes are suspended throughout the figure.
Each Hemp Pachamama is completely unique, handcrafted in Denver, Colorado using hemp plants grown on a small farm in Washington State.
